We all want beautiful, memorable pictures of our family and friends, but sometimes what comes out is just..... not what we had imagined. When I first started taking pictures with my "nice" camera, I compared them to what I saw online, on photographers' websites, and on Pinterest, and my pictures were grossly lacking. Since then, I've learned a lot! If you want to jump up your picture quality, here's a list of 5 simple rules to start with:
2. Use the Rule of Thirds
3. Change your Point of View
No change in Point of View
I have to admit, this picture of Caleb is adorable, but it's just because HE'S adorable. Aside from his dashing smile and ridiculous good looks, there's not much else that's great about it :)
Changing the Point of View!
We got an equally great smile from Caleb in this picture, and changing the point of view added so much interest. He's still adorable, but now we get the benefit of his face clearly being the focus, as the rest of his body and the brick wall naturally fade into the background.
4. Zoom In or Zoom Out: Details or Big Picture
5. Don't cut off limbs.... but if you have to, don't do it at joints (the ankle, should, elbow, hip or knee)
So there you have it - 5 easy ways to make your pictures better. You can seriously start using these right now! They don't require any new equipment or extra time editing. Go take some great pictures :)
Enjoy every Picture!
